Astronomy On The EdgeThe edge of our vision - Infrared Astronomy |
|
|
Infrared light is
electromagnetic radiation, like visible light, that is just beyond
our eye sensitivity on the red side of the spectrum. Studying
the universe in this wavelength of light reveals much of what would
otherwise be invisible to us.
Infrared astronomy has found cool dim stars, interstellar gas and dust, and has allowed astronomers to look through gas and dust to find hidden objects. Infrared also aids in finding planets around other stars. Take a trip into this unseen world both in space and here on Earth and find out the wonders of Astronomy on the Edge. |
